Ask us about our Barn Cat program! Occasionally Alachua County Humane Society is home to cats who prefer the great outdoors. Once acclimated, barn cats make wonderful mousers or companions for your barn or land. Barn cats have been spayed or neuter, vaccinated, and ear tipped. All of their adoption fees are waived. Adoptable Cats & Kittens

Remember Louie?! He is one of the two Jindo mix puppies that were brought to us after being rescued from a meat farm in South Korea. From the looks of things, he seems to be very happy in his new home! Click through the photos below to see Louie enjoying some of his "firsts" with his new family!

We would also like to send a special "thank you" to everyone who expressed interest in giving these pups a forever home. We will have many more needy puppies available for adoption in the next few weeks, and we welcome everyone to come visit them when they are ready! We are open Thursday through Sunday from 12 to 6pm for viewing and adoptions, and all of our animals (including the "coming soon" puppies) are listed on our website,!

Good evening, my name is Elizabeth. I am a recently retired model living in Gainesville and I am looking for a new place to rest my gorgeous head. I am an 11 year old senior, quiet and I clean up after myself. Due to my retirement, I am unable to pay any rent but my mere presence alone will contribute to your household. My talent agents at the Alachua County Humane Society will tell you that I mostly purr but will not hesitate to tell you if you are not living up to my expectations. I enjoy your pets, but like any respectable lady, I have my limits. My tail is mine and mine alone, keep your pets above my shoulders and we will get along just fine. I enjoy sharing space with humans but would prefer not to share with others of the four-legged variety. I do need by beauty rest, after all! My representation at the Humane Society would be happy to provide references. I am available for interviews and photos Thursday-Sunday from 12pm-6pm. Do you have room for me?

Happy #FosterFriday! We will begin featuring some of our "Coming Soon" foster pets and their loving foster parents each week!

This week, we would like to introduce you to Tonks and Brett! Tonks is a one-year-old terrier mix, who will be available for adoption starting next week. When Tonks first came to us, she was sneezing, coughing, and needed a comfortable place to get better. Brett, her foster mom, gave her just that. Tonks quickly recovered, and Brett has continued to foster her until she goes in for her spay surgery!

"It's been great having Tonks with me! She has tons of energy, but is so sweet and I'm thankful I've been able to be a part of her life. She loves exploring outdoors and would probably love to have a backyard to play in. I think she would do great with a family and she'd love the energy of kids. We'll be so sad to see her go, but happy she'll be heading to a forever home!"

Tonks, along with all other animals over one year of age, are only $14 to adopt this month! We are open for viewing and adoptions Thursday through Sunday from 12 to 6pm. If you are interested in becoming a foster home for needy animals like Tonks, you can fill out an application on our website,!
