Adoptable Cats & Kittens

We had a wonderful surprise from our friends at Feathr this week when they stopped by to present us with a check for $1,000 that they raised from proceeds of their annual Feathr and Friends Winter Ball! We had such a great time at the event and we are so lucky to have supportive community partners to help us continue our mission to save lives in Alachua County! Thank you Feathr!! ... In our efforts to make Alachua County a no-kill county in 2017, we have been taking in more animals than ever before! For that reason, we are desperately in search of foster homes for our needier animals so that we can help save even more. We are specifically looking for fosters willing to take in dogs with the sniffles, dogs on quarantine holds, and underage puppies.

Our sniffly dogs are in need of fosters until they feel better (roughly 1-2 weeks)! These dogs would do best in a home with no other dogs, so that they do not spread their cold.

Dogs on a quarantine hold will need to be in foster for one week. This hold is for any animals that are pulled from other shelters to make sure that they do not show symptoms of any illness. If the animal has not yet been spayed/neutered, and the foster is willing to give them a place to stay until that can be scheduled as well, we would be extremely grateful!

Underage puppies will need to be in a foster home until they are at least 8 weeks old, and can be scheduled for spay/neuter surgeries. Depending on the age of the puppy/litter, the duration of the foster period will vary. Underage puppies will need to be brought in for vaccine updates every 2 weeks, which we will schedule. We would like to send out small litters altogether, or large litters in at least pairs.

For ANY foster animals, all supplies are provided by ACHS! You can click on the photos for all of the dogs needing a foster for a bit more information about them! If you are interested in giving any of these pups a comfortable and loving temporary home, please message us on facebook or email our Foster Coordinator at!

Remember Louie?! He is one of the two Jindo mix puppies that were brought to us after being rescued from a meat farm in South Korea. From the looks of things, he seems to be very happy in his new home! Click through the photos below to see Louie enjoying some of his "firsts" with his new family!

We would also like to send a special "thank you" to everyone who expressed interest in giving these pups a forever home. We will have many more needy puppies available for adoption in the next few weeks, and we welcome everyone to come visit them when they are ready! We are open Thursday through Sunday from 12 to 6pm for viewing and adoptions, and all of our animals (including the "coming soon" puppies) are listed on our website,!
