Adoption hours: 10am-5:30pm Mon thru Sat and 1pm-5:30pm Sun

ACHS lists animals available for adoption on our site and at PetFinder.com. While we make every effort to keep these sites up to date, please understand that due to the large number of animals coming into our facility and adopted on a daily basis, the sites may from time to time list animals that are already adopted, or there may be animals ready for adoption that are not listed. If you are looking for a specific breed of animal feel free to email us with an exact description, if we acquire an animal that matches your request you will immediately be contacted via phone or email. We currently house 25-35 dogs more than 125 cats and kittens each day. If you adopt a pair of animals you recieve a discount on both adoption fees, so please... consider getting your furry friend a new companion to play with!

Our adoption fees will vary based on the individual animal's age, breed, size, and needs.

Generally, our adoption fees include the following:

* sterilization
* vaccinations appropriate to age
* complimentary vet exam
* microchipping
* current on flea prevention
* current on heartworm prevention (dogs only)
* cats - tested for FELV & FIV
* dogs- tested for heartworms
* free bag of Science Diet Pet Food
* 10% discount on all new pet supplies at our Thrift and Gift
* free Shelter Insurance for 30 days ($500 value)

Not ready for a long term commitment? Remember we are always in need of short term foster homes for animals. Please download our foster application or contact CLOAKING for additional information.

As pets are adopted from our shelter we transfer new animals from Alachua County Animal Services (264-6870), these animals are often in danger of euthanization due to the limited amount of space and loving homes available within our community.

At the Humane Society we are committed to giving every animal a chance, this means you may often find animals undergoing medical treatments or underage animals at our facility. The county animal shelter simply can not house these animals until they are ready to be adopted. We can, but only with your help! Many of these animals will require several weeks of treatment. We are always in need of foster homes willing to treat animals, or house them until they are old enough to go to a permanent home. We are also always in need of donations to help support these animals while they are being treated.

Call 352-373-5855 for information.
