We are looking for dedicated and committed individuals to help us in a variety of areas. We have a number of different Volunteer Teams you can join, ranging from working directly with our animals to assisting with Thrift Store operations to helping out at special events. Each team will be responsible for accomplishing certain tasks and helping out in particular areas. Please view the online application for the most current list and descriptions of all the teams. Most teams will have a Team Training Session that you will need to attend before you can begin volunteering, but some teams will require that you interview with the Volunteer Coordinator. The team descriptions on the online application will let you know what the requirements for joining each team are. You are welcome to join as many teams as you would like.
We do not have a minimum age requirement for volunteering, but we do require that any volunteer under 16 be accompanied by a parent or guardian at all times.
If you are interested in donating your time and helping us end euthanasia in Alachua County by 2015, you can become an ACHS Volunteer in three easy steps!
Step 1) Complete and submit our online VOLUNTEER APPLICATION.
Step 2) Check your inbox for an e-mail from ACHS with instructions on how to become a member of the team(s) you are interested in.
Step 3) Follow the instructions in the e-mail to become a team member and begin helping out.
Please note that due to the high volume of applicants and limited space in our Volunteer Database, any applicant who does not attend a Team Training or interview with the Volunteer Coordinator (depending on the qualifications required) for at least one team within 60 days of applying will be deleted from the system and will need to re-apply if they wish to volunteer at a later date.
Additionally, any member of an on-site team with no recorded hours for a period of 90 days will be archived in our database. After being archived, volunteers will have 30 days to become re-activated before their record is deleted. A report with the number of volunteer hours served will be processed before deletion and kept for our records, but the volunteer will need to re-apply and re-attend trainings if they wish to volunteer again at a later date.

If you have a group or club that is interested in volunteering together at ACHS, please e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org with your group size and dates and times that you are available. The Volunteer Coordinator will get in touch with you and let you know if we are able to accommodate you.
