At the Alachua County Humane Society, volunteers are integral to the success of our organization. Without volunteers, we would be unable to save as many animals as we do.

We are always looking for dedicated individuals to help us in a variety of areas ranging from walking, cleaning, and socializing with animals to laundry, dishes, thrift store operations and special events.

We do not have a minimum age requirement for volunteering but we do require that any volunteer under the age of 16 be accompanied by an adult at all times.

Please email our Volunteer Coordinator at volunteer@alachuahumane.org if you have any questions about our volunteer program. If you are interesting in donating your time and helping Alachua County Humane Society in our commitment to saving lives, sign up to be a volunteer today!

October Volunteer Spotlight

Nancy Lang – Dog Volunteer, 1500 Hours

Nancy Kelly King 09_2015 (3)

While I lived in the northeast with my husband Larry, I volunteered at a local animal shelter for 7 years, taking the dogs on long walks, playing and socializing them. I also assisted the staff with adoptions, and fostered shelter dogs as needed.

After my husband and I retired, we relocated to Gainesville. I started volunteering at the Alachua County Humane Society 4-1/2 years ago walking, socializing, and playing with the shelter dogs. I enjoy working with the staff and dedicated volunteers with finding forever homes for the shelter dogs.

We have adopted two shelter dogs, King, who we adopted from the shelter where I previously
volunteered, and Kelly who we adopted from the Alachua County Humane Society.

Thank you Nancy for all you do for ACHS!
